Ms. Katie Lakey
Kindergarten Teacher
Katie Lakey is so excited to be a Kindergarten teacher at Hillside next year. She grew up in Peachtree City and this will be her fifth year teaching at Hillside and her first year in Kindergarten at Hillside. She previously taught Kindergarten at Christ the King in Buckhead. She has a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Brenau and an undergraduate degree in Business Marketing from University of West Georgia. She has two boys, John (5) and Will (2), who, also, attend Hillside. John will be in T-5 this year and Will in the Two’s program! Her husband Matt, went to Georgia Southern and now works at Home Depot Corporate. They have lived in Woodstock for seven years now!
Ms. Christi Fabian
Fifth Grade Teacher
Ms. Christi taught for 30 years in Cobb County, mostly in fifth grade! She lives in Woodstock with her two sons who graduated from Etowah High School. While Georgia is her home, she is originally from Michigan. Ms. Christi LOVES teaching fifth grade. She says that she always learns as much from her fifth grade students as they learn from her. Ms. Christi has been a member of Hillside UMC since 2002. Hillside is her home. She enjoys teaching Sunday School and participating in Bible Studies. She has a wide variety of interests, but some of her favorite hobbies are sports, reading, traveling, and movies!
Ms. Renee Cohen
Third Grade Assistant
Ms Renee is so excited to be assisting Ms. Michelle I third grade next year. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University in 2006. She is a certified Pre-K through 5th grade teacher and has taught and tutored in various grade levels. She is also an online ESL teacher. She is originally from New Jersey but relocated with her family when she was in high school. She is happily married to her high school sweetheart and has a seven year old daughter named Leah and a three and a half year old son named Luke. They fill her heart with joy every day! She loves watching them learn and experience new things. As a family, they love to hike, kayak, go to the park, and PLAY! It has always been her desire to teach and she loves every minute of it!
Ms. Liz-Anne Elsea
4th & 5th Grade Assistant
Ms. Liz-Anne joined us a few days a week last year as a 3rd and 4th grade assistant. We are very excited to have her join us 5 days a week this year. Liz-Anne is an active member of Hillside United Methodist Church. You can often see her serve as the “stage host†on Sunday mornings during the 9:30 modern service. Liz-Anne has an extensive background working with youth in the church setting. She has a gift for connecting and leading youth during this transitional time in their lives. Liz-Anne loves spending time with her family. She loves to exercise and she loves the beach. She is a faithful Christian and will serve as a string faith leader among our students and staff.
